Page Designer is a shared environment where all content is available across markets.

• Content created by HQ is accessible to all subsidiaries
• Content created by subsidiaries is also visible globally
• There is no local ownership by default

This means that creating, editing, or deleting content can impact other markets if not handled properly.

To avoid issues, users must understand how to:

• Localize content instead of editing it directly
• Control visibility instead of deleting content
• Assign content correctly to ensure it appears on the website

Content visibility also depends on:

• Publication status
• Locale selection
• Folder assignment

• Do not delete shared content as it may impact other markets
• Do not edit HQ content directly without localization
• Creating new pages makes them visible to all markets
• Content not assigned to a folder will not appear on the website
• Publishing in the wrong locale may display incorrect language

Step 1: Access Page Designer

1. Go to Merchant Tools
2. Navigate to Page Designer
3. Select the page you want to review or edit

Step 2: Decide how to work with the content

Localize existing content

1. Select your locale (ensure the correct country is selected)
2. Identify the component to update
3. Click on Localize next to “Fallback”
4. Apply your changes

👉 Use “Revert to fallback” if needed

Include additional content specific to your country on a Global page

⚠️ Important: Always work on your own locale

Before making any changes, make sure you are working on your country’s locale.

• The default locale is shared across all markets
• Any change made on the default will impact all countries
• This includes content edits, deletions, and structure changes

👉 If you are not on your locale, you are editing the global source content

Best practice:

• Always select your locale first (check the pink ribbon)
• Localize the page or component before editing
• Never edit the default  

Targeting and visibility

Use targeting to control whether a component is visible on your store or others.

Key steps covered:

• Ensure the component or boxed layout is localized
• Use the dropdown arrow to access Targeting
• Use Locales to include or exclude your store

👉 Targeting is only available on localized components or boxed layouts

Duplicate a component for local use

Use duplication when you need more flexibility such as repositioning content or applying advanced targeting.

Key steps covered:

• Duplicate the component using the dropdown arrow
• Reposition the duplicated component
• Localize it if needed
• Apply targeting (locale and optional customer groups)
• Hide the original component on your store

⚠️ If you do not hide the original component, both versions will be displayed

👉 Best practice: Duplicate → target your version → hide the original

Step 3: Control visibility

If content should not appear on your website:

1. Open the page
2. Go to Page Settings
3. Adjust visibility for your locale or unpublish the page

👉 Do not delete the content

Step 4: Publish or unpublish

• Click Publish to make content visible
• Click Unpublish to hide content from your site
