This procedure is intended for teams responsible for managing website content in Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C, including subsidiaries handling localization and product storytelling.

Ensure Product Detail Pages are properly structured, localized, and aligned with brand guidelines while maintaining a clear separation between product data (Catalog) and editorial content (Page Designer).

• Do not edit product data in Page Designer (name, price, stock, images)
• Always localize before editing to avoid impacting other markets
• Content is shared across markets if not localized
• Poor image quality or oversized files can impact website performance
• Overloading the page with components can negatively affect user experience

1. Access the Product Detail Layout

• Go to Page Designer
• Locate the Product Detail Layout
• Open the layout settings

2. Assign the Layout to the Correct Products

• Go to Page Settings → Assignments tab
• Add or verify the list of Product IDs (SKU / Gen Code depending on setup)
• Ensure all relevant products are included

This step links the layout to the products. If a product is not assigned, the layout will not apply to it.

3. Ensure You Are Working in the Correct Locale

• Select your locale
• Confirm the pink ribbon is visible
• Localize the page if needed
• Localize each component individually

If not localized, you are editing shared content across all markets.

4. Configure Attributes (Structured Content Layer)

• Go to Page Settings → Attributes tab
• Verify or assign the Product reference
• Fill in all required fields:
  • Text content
  • Editorial sections
  • Video (Vimeo ID only)
  • Gallery (if applicable)

Attributes define structured PDP content and must be completed consistently.

5. Manage References (Compliance Requirement)

• Go to Attributes → Notes and References
• Add all supporting scientific or performance references
• Ensure proper formatting and logical order
• Verify alignment with claims displayed on the page

References are mandatory when claims are present and must not be left empty.

6. Update Page Content in Page Designer

• Update editorial content:
  • Product storytelling
  • Science / ingredient sections
  • Routine blocks
  • Cross-selling sections
• Use:
  • Boxed layouts
  • Grid structures
  • Recommender components

7. Manage Media

• Use optimized images (avoid excessive resolution)
• Add alt text to all visuals
• For videos:
  • Use Vimeo only
  • Insert the video ID (not full URL)

8. Validate the Page

• Ensure layout is correctly assigned to products
• Verify attributes are fully completed
• Confirm references are present and accurate
• Check content is localized
• Validate layout consistency and structure

9. Publish or Unpublish

• Publish to make content visible
• Unpublish to hide content
