This procedure is intended for Page Designer administrators who want to display short commercial messages within a page using Ribbon Components, with the option to add a CTA to each message.

Component Objective

The Ribbon Carousel is a nested Page Designer component used to display commercial messages through individual Ribbon Components.

A Ribbon is a pure-text component.

It does not use:

• Images
• Videos
• Other media

Its purpose is to give a commercial message a simple and visible treatment without requiring a media asset.

A Ribbon can also contain an optional CTA when the message should direct the visitor toward another destination.

Component Structure

The Ribbon Carousel acts as the parent container.

Inside it, the Slides Region contains the individual Ribbon Components.

The structure is:

Ribbon Carousel

→ Slides Region
   → Ribbon
   → Ribbon
   → Ribbon
   → Additional Ribbon slides as required

The Ribbon Carousel provides the carousel structure, while each Ribbon contains its own commercial message.

Ribbon Content

Each individual Ribbon provides a required:

Text

Use this field for the commercial message displayed by that Ribbon.

The Ribbon is intentionally text-based. There is no image or video associated with the component.

Keep this distinction in mind when choosing between Ribbon and other more visual Page Designer components.

Optional CTA

Each Ribbon can include an optional CTA.

The CTA provides:

• Text
• Link

Use the CTA when the commercial message should direct the visitor toward another destination.

If the Ribbon only needs to communicate information, the CTA can be left unused.

Pure-Text Commercial Message

Ribbon should primarily be considered a commercial-message component.

Its simplicity is part of its purpose.

Rather than combining imagery, extensive copy and multiple design elements, the Ribbon focuses attention on:

Commercial message + optional CTA

This makes it suitable when the message itself is the primary element that needs emphasis.

Multiple Ribbon Slides

The Ribbon Carousel can contain multiple individual Ribbon Components within its Slides Region.

This allows several commercial messages to be grouped into one Ribbon Carousel.

The number of Ribbon Carousel instances that can be used throughout a page is not restricted to a single instance.

Multiple Ribbon Carousels on a Page

Administrators can technically use an unlimited number of Ribbon Carousel layers on a page.

A Ribbon Carousel can therefore be introduced wherever required within the page composition.

However, technical freedom should not be confused with recommended usage.

Ribbon Carousels should not be overused.

Their purpose is to draw attention to commercial messages. Repeating them excessively throughout a page reduces their usefulness and can negatively affect the overall experience.

Use them intentionally.

Placement

The Ribbon Carousel can be used wherever required on a page.

Unlike components with strict placement recommendations, Ribbon Carousel provides broad placement flexibility.

However, placement should still make sense within the content flow.

A Ribbon should support the surrounding content rather than interrupt the page repeatedly without a meaningful reason.

Critical Distinction: Ribbon Carousel vs. Ribbon Page Layout

There are two separate Ribbon concepts available.

They must not be confused.

Ribbon Carousel

The Ribbon Carousel documented in this procedure is a Page Designer component.

It:

• Can be placed within the page
• Contains a Slides Region
• Contains individual Ribbon Components
• Displays pure-text commercial messages
• Supports optional CTAs
• Can be used multiple times throughout a page

Ribbon Page Layout

The Ribbon Page Layout is a separate page-level layout.

There can be only one Ribbon Page Layout.

It is not the same feature as the Ribbon Carousel Component documented in this procedure.

Do Not Treat the Two Ribbon Features as Interchangeable

The fact that both features use the word Ribbon does not mean that they are the same object.

When working in Page Designer, first determine whether the requirement concerns:

• The Ribbon Carousel Component, or
• The Ribbon Page Layout

If the requirement is to add commercial Ribbon content somewhere within the page, use the Ribbon Carousel Component.

Do not confuse this with the separate page-level Ribbon layout.

Versatility

The Ribbon Carousel provides flexibility because it can:

• Be used throughout the page
• Contain multiple Ribbon messages
• Present text-only commercial messaging
• Add an optional CTA to individual Ribbon messages

However, the component's versatility comes from its placement and number of messages, not from complex visual configuration.

Ribbon is intentionally a simple, pure-text treatment.

Recommended Usage

Use Ribbon Carousel when a commercial message deserves additional visibility but does not require a visual asset.

A Ribbon can be useful for a concise commercial message accompanied by an optional CTA.

The Ribbon should remain focused.

Avoid trying to turn it into a replacement for a richer banner or media component.

Do Not Overuse Ribbons

Although an unlimited number of Ribbon Carousel instances can technically be used on a page, this should not become the design objective.

If too many commercial messages are emphasized in the same way, none of them retain meaningful emphasis.

Use Ribbon Carousel selectively for messages that genuinely benefit from this treatment.

Do Not Confuse Ribbon Carousel With Ribbon Page Layout

This is the most important terminology warning.

Ribbon Carousel is a Page Designer component.

Ribbon Page Layout is a separate page-level layout.

They are not interchangeable.

Only One Ribbon Page Layout Exists

There can be only one Ribbon Page Layout.

This restriction should not be incorrectly applied to Ribbon Carousel.

Multiple Ribbon Carousels Are Allowed

Ribbon Carousel is not restricted to one instance.

An unlimited number can technically be used throughout a page.

Do Not Overuse Ribbon Carousel

The ability to add multiple Ribbon Carousels does not mean that administrators should fill a page with them.

Use them selectively.

Ribbon Is Pure Text

Ribbon does not contain image or video media.

Use another component when the intended message depends on visual content.

Ribbon Text Is Required

Each Ribbon requires its commercial message in the Text field.

CTA Is Optional

A Ribbon does not require a CTA.

Only configure the CTA when the commercial message needs to direct the visitor toward another destination.

1. Determine Whether Ribbon Is the Appropriate Component

Review the intended message.

Use Ribbon Carousel when the requirement is to display a pure-text commercial message, optionally accompanied by a CTA.

If the content requires an image or video, use a more appropriate media-based component.

2. Confirm That You Need Ribbon Carousel, Not Ribbon Page Layout

Before continuing, distinguish between the two Ribbon features.

Use:

Ribbon Carousel Component

when adding commercial Ribbon messages within the page.

Do not confuse this with the separate:

Ribbon Page Layout

There can be only one Ribbon Page Layout, while multiple Ribbon Carousels can be used throughout a page.

3. Choose the Placement

Determine where the Ribbon Carousel should appear within the page.

The component can be used wherever required.

However, consider the overall page composition and avoid inserting Ribbon Carousels repeatedly without a meaningful reason.

4. Add the Ribbon Carousel

Locate the Ribbon Carousel in Page Designer.

Add it to the required location.

Once added, the Page Structure exposes:

Ribbon Carousel

→ Slides Region

The individual Ribbon Components will be added inside this Slides Region.

5. Add a Ribbon

Use the + control on the Slides Region to add a Ribbon Component.

The Ribbon becomes an individual slide within the Ribbon Carousel.

6. Configure the Commercial Message

Select the Ribbon Component.

Under Ribbon Banner, complete the required:

Text

Enter the commercial message that should be displayed.

Keep the message appropriate for a pure-text Ribbon treatment.

7. Decide Whether a CTA Is Required

Determine whether the Ribbon should simply communicate the commercial message or direct the visitor somewhere.

If no navigation is required, leave the CTA unused.

If navigation is required, configure the Button section.

8. Configure the Optional CTA

Under Button, configure:

• Text
• Link

Enter the CTA wording in Text.

Configure the intended destination in Link.

9. Apply the Ribbon Configuration

After configuring the Ribbon, click Apply to save its configuration.

10. Add Additional Ribbon Slides Where Required

If the carousel requires multiple commercial messages, add additional Ribbon Components to the Slides Region.

Configure each Ribbon according to its own message and optional CTA.

The resulting structure can contain multiple Ribbon slides:

Ribbon Carousel

→ Slides Region
   → Ribbon 1
   → Ribbon 2
   → Ribbon 3
   → Additional Ribbon messages

11. Review Whether Another Ribbon Carousel Is Actually Necessary

If another Ribbon Carousel is required elsewhere on the same page, it can technically be added.

There is no single-instance restriction for Ribbon Carousel.

However, before adding another one, consider whether the additional commercial message genuinely needs the same level of emphasis.

Do not overuse the component simply because multiple instances are possible.

12. Review the Complete Page

Before completing the page, confirm that:

• Ribbon Carousel has been used rather than Ribbon Page Layout where appropriate.
• Each Ribbon contains its required Text.
• CTAs are configured only where required.
• CTA Text is appropriate.
• CTA Links point to the intended destinations.
• No image or video content has been expected from the Ribbon.
• The number of Ribbon Carousels remains appropriate for the page.
• Commercial messages have not been unnecessarily overemphasized through repeated Ribbon usage.

13. Validate on Staging

Validate the completed page on the appropriate staging storefront.

Confirm that:

• The Ribbon Carousel appears in the intended location.
• Each Ribbon displays its commercial message correctly.
• Multiple Ribbon slides display correctly when used.
• Optional CTAs appear where configured.
• CTA links point to the intended destinations.
• The pure-text treatment remains clear and readable.
• The Ribbon Carousel works appropriately within the surrounding page content.
• Ribbon usage does not overwhelm the overall page experience.

The key principle is:

Use Ribbon Carousel for concise, pure-text commercial messages with optional CTAs. Multiple Ribbon Carousels can technically be used throughout a page, but they should be used sparingly so that the messages retain their impact. Most importantly, never confuse the Ribbon Carousel Component with the separate Ribbon Page Layout, which is a different page-level feature and is limited to one.
