This procedure is intended for Page Designer administrators who want to recommend specific complementary pages and retain control over which content is displayed to visitors.

Component Objective

The Article Recommendations (Manual) Component displays selected pages as recommendation cards, inviting visitors to continue their journey by discovering complementary content.

Unlike the Article Recommendations Component, the manual version allows the administrator to deliberately choose the pages that should be recommended.

This is the recommended component for Article Recommendations.

Article Recommendations (Manual) vs. Article Recommendations

Two Article Recommendations components are available in Page Designer.

They should not be confused.

Article Recommendations

The recommendations are not sufficiently predictable.

Do not use this component.

Article Recommendations (Manual)

The administrator selects the pages to recommend.

Use this component instead.

When the requirement is to add complementary or related pages to a page, use Article Recommendations (Manual).

Existing Pages Are Required

Article Recommendations (Manual) does not create the pages being recommended.

The pages must already exist before they can be selected.

The dependency follows the same general principle as the FAQ Section:

Create the underlying content first → retrieve it from the component afterwards

If the page you want to recommend has not yet been created, create the page first before attempting to select it in Article Recommendations (Manual).

General Settings

The component provides the following general configuration:

• Header
• Subheader
• Colored background

The Header and Subheader are optional.

Use them when the recommendation section requires an introduction or additional context.

Header

The Header is optional.

Use it to introduce the recommendation section when appropriate.

If the recommendations are sufficiently clear within the surrounding page context, the Header can be left empty.

Subheader

The Subheader is also optional.

Use it when additional context is required beneath the Header.

It can also be left empty when no additional introduction is necessary.

Colored Background

The component provides a Colored background option.

Use this setting according to the intended presentation of the recommendation section.

Manual Page Recommendations

The Manual Page Recommendations section contains individual Article selectors.

Each Article entry allows the administrator to search for and select an existing page.

For example:

Article

→ Search for the required page
→ Select the page

Then:

Next Article

→ Search for another page
→ Select the page

Repeat according to the pages that should be recommended.

Searching for a Page

Each empty Article entry contains a search control.

Use that search to locate the existing page that should appear as a recommendation.

Once selected, the page name appears directly in the Article field.

This allows the administrator to review which pages have already been assigned to the component.

The Recommendation Card Comes From the Selected Page

The administrator selects the page to recommend.

The Article Recommendations (Manual) Component does not provide separate fields for manually recreating the recommendation card's:

• Image
• Page title
• Description
• CTA

Do not look for those fields inside the recommendation component.

The component builds the recommendation from the selected page.

Recommended Use

Use Article Recommendations (Manual) when the current page should lead visitors toward specific complementary content.

The administrator should deliberately choose pages that make sense as the next step in the visitor journey.

The purpose is not simply to fill the recommendation section with available pages.

Select content that genuinely complements the page the visitor is currently viewing.

Use the Manual Component Instead of Article Recommendations

Do not use the automatic Article Recommendations Component.

Its outcome is unpredictable.

Use Article Recommendations (Manual) to control which pages are recommended.

The Recommended Page Must Exist First

You cannot use this component to create the recommended content.

Create the underlying page first, then return to Article Recommendations (Manual) and select it.

Do Not Look for Manual Card-Editing Fields

The component selects existing pages.

It does not expose separate fields for manually creating each recommendation card's image, title, description or CTA.

Header and Subheader Are Optional

Do not add introductory content simply because the fields exist.

Use them when they improve the recommendation section.

Select Complementary Content Deliberately

Manual control should be used to create a meaningful continuation of the visitor journey.

Choose pages that complement the current page.

1. Identify the Complementary Content

Before configuring the component, determine which existing pages should be recommended.

Consider which pages provide a logical continuation or complement to the content the visitor is currently viewing.

2. Confirm That the Pages Already Exist

Verify that every page you intend to recommend has already been created.

The Article Recommendations (Manual) Component retrieves existing pages. It does not create them.

If a required page does not yet exist, create that page first.

Then return to the page containing the Article Recommendations (Manual) Component.

3. Add Article Recommendations (Manual)

Locate:

Article Recommendations (Manual)

in Page Designer and add the component to the required location.

Do not accidentally select the separate Article Recommendations Component.

4. Configure the Optional Header

Select the Article Recommendations (Manual) Component.

Under General, configure Header if the recommendation section requires a title.

Leave the field empty if no Header is required.

5. Configure the Optional Subheader

Configure Subheader if additional introductory information is required.

Leave the field empty when no Subheader is necessary.

6. Configure Colored Background

Use Colored background according to the intended presentation of the recommendation section.

7. Locate Manual Page Recommendations

Under:

Manual Page Recommendations

locate the individual Article entries.

Each Article field represents a page that can be selected for recommendation.

8. Select the First Recommended Page

In the first required Article field:

1. Use the search control.
2. Search for the page you want to recommend.
3. Locate the intended page in the available results.
4. Select it.

The selected page name will appear in the Article field.

9. Select Additional Recommended Pages

Move to the next Article field.

Repeat the same process:

1. Use the search control.
2. Search for the required existing page.
3. Select the intended page.

Continue for each page that should be included in the recommendation section.

10. Review the Selected Pages

Before saving, review the Article fields.

Confirm that:

• Each intended page has been selected.
• The selected page names are correct.
• The recommendations complement the current page.
• No unintended page has been selected.

If an incorrect page has been selected, remove it and search for the correct page.

11. Apply the Configuration

Once the Header, Subheader, Colored background and required Article selections have been configured, click:

Apply

to save the component configuration.

12. Review the Recommendation Section

Review the resulting recommendation cards.

Confirm that the component is displaying the pages you deliberately selected rather than relying on automatically generated recommendations.

Remember that the content of the recommendation card is associated with the selected page rather than being manually recreated inside this component.

13. Validate on Staging

Validate the completed Article Recommendations (Manual) Component on the appropriate staging storefront.

Confirm that:

• The optional Header displays correctly when configured.
• The optional Subheader displays correctly when configured.
• The Colored background behaves as intended when selected.
• The intended pages appear as recommendations.
• Each recommendation corresponds to the page selected in Page Designer.
• The recommendation cards direct visitors toward the intended complementary content.
• The complete section supports a logical continuation of the visitor journey.

The key principle is:

Use Article Recommendations (Manual) whenever you want to promote complementary pages. Create the pages first, then search for and select each page through the individual Article fields. This gives the administrator direct control over the recommendations and should be used instead of the unpredictable Article Recommendations Component.
