This procedure explains how to create a campaign where customers receive a percentage discount when purchasing specific products.

This type of promotion allows you to control:

• which products trigger the discount
• which products receive the discount

• Confusing X and Y will break the promotion
  Qualifying products trigger the discount, not receive it
• Incorrect use of ADD vs ADD Include can block the promotion
  AND logic may make it impossible to trigger
• Discount may apply too broadly
  Using Catalog instead of ID can impact all products
• Promotions may stack if not controlled
  Always review exclusivity settings
• Incorrect product selection can create unintended discounts
  Always validate both trigger and discounted products

1. Create the Coupon

Go to: Merchant Tools → Online Marketing → Coupons

• Click New
• Enter a clear ID
• Set Enabled to YES
• Select Single Code
• Create a coupon code

Click Save.

2. Create the Promotion

Go to: Merchant Tools → Online Marketing → Promotions

• Click New
• Enter ID and Name
• Set Enabled to YES

If needed, adjust Exclusivity to control stacking.

3. Configure Promotion Rule

• Select Product Promotion or Order Promotion depending on use case
• Select condition: Buy X get Y% OFF

👉 Choose Product Promotion if discount applies only to specific items.

4. Configure Qualifying Products (X) (Critical)

Click Edit under qualifying products.

Define which products trigger the discount using:

• ID → specific SKUs
• Categories → broader selection

Combining Qualifiers:

• ADD → AND (all conditions required)
• ADD Include → OR (any condition)

Examples:

• ADD Include (OR): Buy any product from a selection
• ADD (AND): Buy Product A AND Product B

👉 Most use cases rely on ADD Include (OR) to keep the promotion easy to trigger.

Click Save, then Apply.

5. Configure Discounted Products (Y) (Critical)

Click Edit under discounted products.

Define which products receive the discount:

• ID → specific discounted products
• Catalog → all products

Examples:

• Buy Product A → Product B gets 30% OFF
• Buy any product → all products get 10% OFF

👉 This section is independent from qualifying products.

Click Save, then Apply.

6. Configure Discount

• Select Percentage
• Enter discount value (e.g. 30%)

7. Save the Promotion

Click Save.

8. Create the Campaign

Go to: Merchant Tools → Online Marketing → Campaigns

• Click New
• Enter ID
• Set Enabled to YES

9. Configure Campaign

• Set Start Date and End Date
• Assign the Coupon

10. Assign Promotion

In the Experiences section:

• Click +
• Select the promotion
• Set Required Qualifiers to ALL

Click Apply.

11. Save and Test

• Add qualifying product(s)
• Add discounted product(s)
• Apply coupon
• Verify correct product receives discount

Procedure Notes

• Qualifying products (X) trigger the promotion
• Discounted products (Y) receive the benefit
• These two configurations are independent
• This setup allows cross-sell strategies

Real Use Cases

• Buy serum → get cream 30% OFF
• Buy any 2 products → get cheapest one discounted
• Buy from category A → discount on category B
