This procedure explains how to create and manage coupons in Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

Coupons define how customers access a promotion and are the entry point of any campaign.
They must be correctly configured before being assigned to promotions and campaigns.

• Coupons do not trigger any discount by themselves
  A coupon must be linked to a promotion through a campaign to be functional
• Coupon codes are case sensitive
  Incorrect capitalization will prevent the coupon from working
• Incorrect redemption rules can block usage
  Setting limits too strictly may prevent customers from applying the coupon
• Disabled coupons cannot be used
  Always verify the “Enabled” status before testing or launching
• Missing coupon codes will break the campaign
  Creating a coupon without defining codes will result in an unusable setup

1. Access Coupons

Go to: Merchant Tools → Online Marketing → Coupons

Click New to create a new coupon.

2. Define Coupon ID and Type

Enter a clear and recognizable ID.

• Single Code: one shared code for all users (e.g. SUMMER10)
• Multiple Codes: bulk-generated unique codes (used for influencers or segmented campaigns)

👉 Choose the type based on your campaign objective.

3. Configure General Settings

• Description: describe the purpose of the coupon
• Enabled: set to YES to activate
• Case Sensitive: keep consistent with how the code will be communicated

4. Set Redemption Rules

Define how the coupon can be used:

• Per customer
• Per order
• Per time period

👉 Select the rule that matches your campaign constraints.

5. Generate or Define Coupon Codes

In the Coupon Codes section:

• For single code: manually define the code
• For multiple codes: generate a list of codes

Click Apply to confirm code creation.

6. Save the Coupon

Click Save to finalize the coupon.

The coupon is now ready to be assigned to a campaign.
